MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Miami author, independent publisher and civic leader Javier A. Betancourt, writing as J. Adrian Betancourt, is available for media interviews around the official launch of his debut novel, Maya Lin & The Ancient Order of Seshat, in the arQitect, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Books & Books in Coral Gables. The launch conversation will be introduced by Books & Books’ Founder, Mitchell Kaplan, and moderated by the Museum of Miami’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul S. George, both of whom inspired prominent characters in Betancourt’s novel.
Timed to the autumnal equinox, the event will introduce readers to the first installment in the Three Treasures Saga, an upmarket science-fantasy action-adventure series that blends ancient mysteries, artificial intelligence, martial arts, architecture, philosophy and Miami’s distinctive sense of place.
The novel follows Maya Lin, a young University of Miami historian drawn into a dangerous struggle involving ancient knowledge, emerging technology and competing visions for humanity’s future. Set against the worlds of near-future Miami and the San Francisco Bay area, the story explores the tension between technology and tradition, reason and intuition, destiny and free will.
Betancourt brings to the book a professional life spent thinking about cities, movement, public spaces and community. As a senior Miami-Dade County executive, urban planner and community builder, he has worked at the intersection of placemaking, economic development, transportation, and civic life. That background informs both the novel’s Miami setting and the larger participatory world he is building around it.
“I have spent much of my professional life thinking about how places connect people,” Betancourt said. “With this book, I wanted to build a story that begins in Miami and then opens into something larger: an adventure, a mystery, a philosophy and a world readers can enter.”
As part of the launch, Betancourt is also introducing the first elements of an immersive reader community inspired by the Saga. The experience draws on the mythology of the Ancient Order of Seshat and a public-facing Medjay Knights pathway, inviting readers to participate through symbolic recognition, local storytelling challenges, launch activations and future rewards tied to the world of the books.
“The goal is not just to publish a novel, but to invite readers through a doorway,” Betancourt said. “The Saga is meant to live on the page, in the imagination and, where possible, in the real places and communities that inspired it.”
Betancourt is also the founder and host of The Miami Book Hub, a multimedia platform created to connect and celebrate South Florida’s readers, writers, bookstores, publishers and literary institutions. Produced in collaboration with Miami’s Community Newspapers and CNEWS TV, The Miami Book Hub includes a podcast, newsletter, recurring columns and the South Florida Writers Roundtable segment in collaboration with the South Florida Writers Association.
“The Miami Book Hub and the Three Treasures Saga are different projects, but they come from the same impulse,” Betancourt said. “Both are about building community around stories and shining a brighter light on Miami as a place where imagination, history and culture intersect.”
