New weekly OAV market snapshot finds 58% of continuously listed used vehicles had asking-price cuts greater than 0.5%; SUVs and EVs averaged 2.7% cuts

REDLANDS, Calif., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — OAV.io, The Automotive Answer Engine™, today released its first weekly national snapshot of asking-price changes among used vehicles listed at U.S. dealerships on both dates of a four-week comparison.

OAV.io found asking prices were cut an average 2.5% among 1,431,874 used vehicles listed at U.S. dealerships on both comparison dates. Asking prices, not sale prices.

“An asking price isn’t a fixed number. Across more than 1.4 million used vehicles listed on both dates, asking prices were cut an average of 2.5% over four weeks. For shoppers and dealers alike, that’s useful evidence.” — Skye Haulman, Founder and CEO, OAV.io

As of October 3, asking prices were cut by an average of 2.5% over the previous four weeks among 1,431,874 used vehicles OAV.io observed in U.S. dealer listings on both September 5 and October 3, 2026. Fifty-eight percent of those vehicles had asking prices cut by more than 0.5%.

Among the vehicle groups measured:

  • SUV: asking prices cut by an average of 2.7%; 779,688 vehicles compared
  • EV: asking prices cut by an average of 2.7%; 36,228 used battery-electric vehicles compared
  • Van: asking prices cut by an average of 2.5%; 50,698 vehicles compared
  • Truck: asking prices cut by an average of 2.3%; 270,939 vehicles compared
  • Car: asking prices cut by an average of 2.2%; 330,549 vehicles compared

The EV group overlaps with the body-class figures because battery-electric vehicles are also counted in their respective body classes.

“An asking price isn’t a fixed number. Across more than 1.4 million used vehicles listed on both dates, asking prices were cut by an average of 2.5% over four weeks. For shoppers and dealers alike, that’s useful evidence of how actively asking prices are being adjusted,” said Skye Haulman, founder and CEO of OAV.io.

OAV.io Publishes a Frozen Weekly Record

OAV.io’s new Used Car Asking-Price Trends report compares each used vehicle’s asking price on the snapshot date with its own asking price four weeks earlier, using vehicles listed on both dates. Used vehicles include certified pre-owned vehicles.

The figures measure asking prices, not sale prices. Vehicles no longer listed on the snapshot date are not included. The results are a market signal and are separate from OAV.io’s Price-to-Market analysis of individual vehicle listings.

OAV.io will publish a new national snapshot weekly. Each dated snapshot is frozen and remains unchanged, creating a permanent public record of the figures reported for that date.
